Richard has 28 years of experience in the property development industry and over 20 years involvement in large-scale warehousing and distribution developments. He is therefore very experienced and is very much “hands-on” on both the property development and trading activities.

His business focus at db symmetry is on bottom-line profits through a highly analytical and numerate approach, challenging assumptions at each and every step and looking to minimise downside risk at each and every opportunity. His excellent IT skills ensure the db symmetry financial reporting is of the highest calibre. Richard is adept at standing back and understanding the business and economic landscape and implementing the appropriate business strategy at the right time.

A true entrepreneur, he has also been at the heart of the creation of the successful Barwood businesses: Land, Homes and Capital and their subsequent sale following the creation of real value.

Christian Matthews Director

Christian is a qualified Chartered Surveyor and has over 28 years of commercial property experience, starting his career as an industrial agent in London when he was involved in the then pioneering Magna Park Lutterworth Logistics Park, before joining Barwood in 1999.

Christian’s skills lie in creating a product in a location that finds favour with occupiers and investors alike and leveraging his strong agency contacts to yield new opportunities. His geographical focus is Greater London and the South-East.

Within db symmetry Northampton office, Christian leads the development process, galvanised the business to proceed with its speculative building programme and is at the forefront of customer relationships and corporate marketing.

Henry Chapman Director

Henry is a qualified Chartered Surveyor who joined Barwood from Strutt and Parker in 2002 where he was divisional partner specialising in investment.

His clear thinking and creativity in financial problem-solving has helped him put together many complex and sizeable transactions.

Henry has extensive experience in all aspects of the development business with his focus now very much on land assembly and the optioning of land which is life blood and raw material of the db symmetry business. His determined and relentless approach coupled with clarity of thought to ensure even the most complicated issue, be it legal or planning related, will not defeat him.

The recent db symmetry success in both optioning up and then ganing planning consent at Magna Park, Lutterworth and symmetry park, Bicester a testament of this.

Andrew Dickman Director

Andrew is a qualified Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years of commerical property experience. He specialises in delivering cradle-to-grave property strategies to maximise profit & minimise risk.

He established the northern office in 2012, to capitalise on development and re-positioning opportunities in Northern England & Scotland. Andrew has a long track record of successfully delivering multi-phase developments within his geography & further afield.

Andrew was formerly a Director of Savills and partner in Fuller Peiser. Prior to joining db symmetry, Andrew was responsible for all aspects of acquiring, developing & managing a £120m property portfolio for a family trust. He is now very much the figure head of the Manchester office which has grown rapidly as it goes from strength-to-strength and is now very much the preeminent developer in the important Northern region.

Will Oliver Finance Director

Will is a Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and Chartered Treasurer (ACT), he assumes overall responsibility for all finance and reporting at db symmetry. He has over 14 years of experience of finance and treasury at property and REIM businesses.

Prior to db symmetry he was at Forum Partners, where he had ultimate finance responsibility for their Europe and Asia funds. He also led on the acquisition, development and subsequent disposal of the LFFREP platform.

At Palmer Capital, he was Head of Finance and at Cordea Savills he was responsible for the launch of the successful Nordic Retail Fund and worked in Germany.

He has a wide experience of finance matter, including real estate corporate finance, portfolio analytics, financial risk management and the requirements of institutional investors.

Kevin Theobold Construction Director

Kevin has 35 years’ experience in property providing Project Management and Cost Consultant services to private commercial property developers within the industrial, logistics, master planning and infrastructure, retail, office, residential and student accommodation sectors. A Chartered Surveyor, Kevin also has significant plc experience in reporting directly to the Executive Board as Director of Project Management for Redrow from 2002 – 2009 having overall responsibility for the delivery of complex major residential-led city centre developments across the UK.

As a Senior Director at RPS Group (formerly DBK), Kevin has been consistently providing services to db symmetry for the last 18 months, in addition to developers such as Peel, St Modwen, Stoford and Harworth Estates and is currently establishing procedures and legal precedents for db symmetry.

Having joined db symmetry on a full-time basis, Kevin holds overall responsibility for the design, procurement and construction process for db symmetry reporting directly to Board.

Jonathan Dawes Planning Director

Jonathan joined in 2007 from Reading Borough Council and has over 12 years of experience in taking major residential, commercial and mixed-use schemes through the planning system.

He is responsible for establishing and managing the planning strategy for strategic land holdings from acquisition through to disposal.

Jonathan’s meticulous approach to all aspects of a project, whether through the promotion of sites through the development plan process or submission of planning applications, and careful management of multi-disciplinary teams, ensures that robust planning arguments are presented. This has been demonstrated most recently by gaining planning consent at Magna Park, Lutterworth.

Through the review of the evidence base for the Lutterworth scheme, Jonathan has also been instrumental in the diversification of db symmetry into rail-based logistics, through the identification of the Hinckley National Rail Freight Interchange opportunity which is currently being taken forward as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) through the Development Consent Order (DCO) process.

Harry Sadleir Development Director

Harry has over 25 years of experience in commercial property. Prior to joining db symmetry, he was Principal at LxB Retail Properties Plc, the AIM listed Real Estate Investment Company, who specialise in the development of out-of-town and edge-of-town retail assets.

Harry works closely with occupiers and the development team to deliver class-leading property solutions, with recent examples being the speculative construction of two warehouse units at CM40 Banbury, the larger unit having let a month after pc to TVS, and the delivery of the Waitrose food store also at Banbury.

Harry has built over 750,000 sq ft in retail space including J Sainsbury and M&S at Greenwich, Hereford Retail Park and the Ivybridge Retail Park in Isleworth. At Wellbeck Land he built Quadrum Industrial Park, Guildford and Regent Industrial Park in Princes Risborough.

Jonathan Wallis Development Director

Jonathan is a qualified chartered Surveyor with 25 years of experience as an agent and developer. He formerly ran leasing and investment teams in London and Birmingham at Cushman & Wakefield and also, JLL.

Prior to joining db symmetry, he was a Board Director at Miller Developments for 11 years where he delivered multiple logistics, manufacturing and mixed-use developments including developing over 3 million sq ft at Omega, Warrington from inception and HSBC Banks new retail banking headquarters at Arena Central in Birmingham.

At dbs, Jonathan’s geographical focus is on the East and West Midlands – both delivering existing projects such as symmetry park, Kettering and sourcing new opportunities. His strong financial and analytical skills are at the core of his approach to development managing risk at every stage.

Simon Dixon Development Director

Simon is a qualified Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years of experience in all aspects of commercial property development and planning. His early career was as an agent in Leeds and Manchester and he has for the past 15 years undertaken numerous commercial developments whilst working with a regional construction firm and a national developer.

Simon specialises in large logistics, manufacturing and mixed-use schemes, primarily across the M62 corridor but has also undertaken city centre office and retail-led developments.

He has recently completed the letting, forward funding and redevelopments of a logistics and manufacturing building on Merseyside for a main Jaguar Land Rover supplier and is currently undertaking two developments in Yorkshire and the North-East with a combined floor space of 2.5m sq ft.

Paul Chatterjee Development Director

Paul joined db symmetry in late 2017 from Lynton Developments where he was instrumental in securing many occupier-led development projects. Paul’s personal approach to working with occupiers has seen him secure repeat business over a number of years.

Long-term development projects and controlling land are key to the success of any development business and Paul utilises his development skill sets to drive forward strategic land in the North-West and Yorkshire, whilst at the same time working with occupiers across the country to secure further land for design and build projects.

Paul continues to drive his national contact base to secure new projects across the country ranging from strategic employment land to bespoke design and build projects for occupiers.

Tom Leeming Development Director

Tom is a qualified Chartered Surveyor with over 14 years of experience in the commercial property market. He previously worked in the South-East market providing leasing, investment and development advice, initially at JLL and latterly at Cushman & Wakefield where he was a Partner before joining db symmetry in 2015.

At dbs, his role includes securing strategically important sites in the Greater London, South-East and South Midlands area. Tom’s focus also lies in the development and delivery of speculative and pre-committed units. Recent successes include securing the purchase of a new 50 acre B8 site in Biggleswade and the development of the first phase of symmetry park, Bicester with the delivery of a pre-sold unit and a speculatively developed unit which he subsequently sold to an owner occupier.

Tom is a determined individual and has completed a solo swim of the English Channel in 11 hours and 7 minutes, as well as a relay crossing.

Matt Claxton Associate Planning Director

Matt joined db symmetry from GVA in 2018 having previously worked at Knight Frank and Indigo planning in Manchester. Matt has 12 years experience advising on all aspects of land use planning across a wide range of property and business sectors including the delivery of large logistics, manufacturing and mixed-use schemes.

Matt’s day-to-day role includes coordinating the specialist inputs of design, highways and environmental consultants to support a range of planning application submissions; reviewing land interests and property assets, highlighting the development opportunities and potential planning risk; preparing policy representations, to influence emerging planning policy and allocate land for specific land uses through the development plan process; undertaking stakeholder and community consultations.

Freddie Oakey Associate Development Director

Freddie is a qualified Chartered Surveyor who graduated from Sheffield Hallam in 2010 with a 2:1 BSc (Hons) degree in Business Property Management. Freddie joined the db symmetry northern office in July 2013 following 2 years working at Colliers International in the North-West Industrial Agency Team.

Freddie works on the management of development projects from acquisition through to disposal throughout the North of England, North Wales and Scotland.

His tenacious approach to securing deals has earned Freddie an exceptional reputation as an ambitious property developer able to deliver on multi-million-pound schemes. He played a key role in the developing and letting of 110,000 sq ft warehouse to MDA, Bunzl at our Wigan M6 Epic site and the disposal of land to Euro Garages and Irizarat our symmetry park, Doncaster site.

Freddie has developed exceptional relationships with major funding institutions, national occupiers, local authorities and project teams alike.

Owain Baker IT Manager

Owain joined db symmetry in April 2018 as the IT Manager.

Owain joined db symmetry in April 2018, previously working as a Data Analyst for Olleco, where he created complex spreadsheets and databases for the analysis of very large datasets. He also worked for Anglian Water, where he designed, built and managed the department intranet site and database.

Owain is responsible for managing db symmetry’s IT systems and gives technical support to both the Northampton and Manchester offices.

Joanna Lombard Executive Assistant

Joanna joined db symmetry in October 2016 after re-locating to Northamptonshire, having previously been an Associate in Strutt & Parker’s National Estate Agency team based in Oxfordshire, where she was primarily involved with the sale of rural property and land. Joanna also holds a NFoPP Level 3 Technical Award in the Sale of Residential Property. Prior to embarking on a career in rural property, Joanna obtained a Land Management degree from Harper Adams University.

Joanna’s role is to support the Directors, liaise with clients, and to assist with projects and research, as well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the Northampton office.

Joanna is currently on maternity leave.

Kirstie joined db symmetry in 2016 having relocated from Devon. She holds a degree in French Studies from The University of Birmingham. As a linguist, Kirstie enjoys the opportunity to engage with diverse audiences and has learnt the true values of effective communication.

Kirstie also holds a diploma in Business IT with Marketing and PR. In addition to handling the Sales and Marketing in her former role, her previous responsibilities have included implementing administrative systems and project coordination.

Kirstie supports the Directors, liaising with clients and contributing to projects and research, as well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the Northampton office.

Bekki’s previous roles have enabled her to develop a keen understanding of the key skills necessary to excel as an Executive Assistant. She enjoys interacting with people and developing new processes. 

Bekki is based in the Northampton office supporting Directors and the Finance department, assisting in the day-to-day running of the office.

Jill joined db symmetry in January 2017 having previously worked as a Barrister’s Clerk for 7 years. Jill clerked for several practitioners, who specialised in personal injury, clinical negligence and Fraud, and gathered the integral skills needed for the role of an Executive Assistant. Jill’s role is to support the Directors and Development Surveyors, liase with clients, as well as assisting with projects and the day-to-day running of the Manchester Office.

Justin Baker Investment and Business Analyst

Justin joined db symmetry in April 2017 for process improvement and to manage the accuracy of the portfolio forecasting.

Justin is currently a candidate in the Certified Financial Analyst program having passed the level 1 exam in December 2016, he is also a CFA candidate member of the CFA Society UK after achieving the Investment Management Certificate in November 2015. Having studied AAT and CIMA previously Justin has a broad range of accounting and investment knowledge.

Justin has previously worked in a diverse range of organisations, from a private hospital chain managing the accounts for a small entity, an alternative investment manager as an analyst and asset manager for £260mn AUM and even a supply chain analyst for Avon cosmetics EMEA region costing $500mn annually.

Adelina Potocka-Markiewicz Purchase Ledger Clerk

She holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the polish University of Economics. Currently, she is studying towards becoming Qualified Accounting Technician.
